Injection of MO2 causes a range of defects, including gastrulation defects, truncation of the axis and small eyes. Xcyr61 mRNA can ameliorate the small eye phenotype but not the gastrulation defect, which may be more sensitive to levels and precise localisation of Xcyr61.
