Panels to the right of the photomicrographs depict the results of RT-PCR analysis of plucked erythroid colonies and reveal that EryP contain mRNA for ßH1 (embryonic hemoglobin) and ß globin major (adult hemoglobin) while BFU-E express mRNA for only ß globin major. Negative control samples were tested using no reverse transcriptase.
