The gonad was fixed and stained with the DNA dye, DAPI, anti-PGL-1 antiserum and anti-{alpha}-tubulin. The stages of spermatogenesis are indicated in the top panel. PGL-1 disappears from P granules after the pachytene stage and before the formation of meiotic spindles. Scale bar: 10 µm.
