IF immunostaining (B,C) and silver staining (D,E) showed that reduced enzymatic activity correlated with a decrease in zymogenic cells (arrowheads) and enteroendocrine cells (arrows) in Hoxa5–/– mutants (C,E) compared with wild-type specimens (B,D).
