The oocytes were scanned either once (1; A,D) or continuously using the Kalman function of the confocal microscope for 15 (15; B,E) or 30 (30; C,F) scans. The cytoplasmic streaming observed in Klc and syd stage 9 mutant oocytes is analogous to wild type (see Fig. 2K-M). In Klc mutant oocytes, however, the streaming seems to be less vigorous, as the cytoplasmic movements in the most posterior region of the oocyte are reduced.
