Formation of the germ granule in the Chaetognath Saggita bipunctata. The germ granule forms by aggregation of smaller particles in about 10 minutes in the vegetal region of the fertilized egg at the time of first mitosis.

Chaeto germ granule - low resolution
The germ granule in the Chaetognath Saggita bipunctata forms in the vegetal cortex (top of the egg ) between the time male and female pronuclei meet and first mitosis (about 15 minutes). The germ granule is inherited by one of the first two blastomeres. The egg is 300 mm in diameter.
