Movie 1

spn-E
prevents premature cytoplasmic streaming. Time-lapse imaging of autofluorescent
particles in spn-EhlsD157/TM3 (WT; movie 1), spn-E2A9–14/spn-EhlsD157 (spn-E2A9–14; movie 2), spn-E4E2–14/spn-EhlsD157 (spn-E4E2–14; movie 3) and spn-E8D4–11/spn-EhlsD157 (spn-E8D4–11; movie 4). Whereas wild-type
oocytes show disorganised cytoplasmic movements, 40-60% of spn-E oocytes display a fast circular movement. Each movie
represents 15 minutes of filming, lasts 66 seconds (speeding factor: 13.6) and
is looped three times.
Movie 2

yps
and orb act antagonistically to prevent
premature cytoplasmic streaming. Time-lapse imaging of autofluorescent
particles in ypsJM2 orbF303/TM3 (WT; movie 1), orbmel/ypsJM2 orbF303 (orb; movie 2) and ypsJM2 orbmel/ypsJM2 orbF303 (orb yps; movies 3 and 4). Whereas wild-type oocytes
show disorganised cytoplasmic movements, orb mutant oocytes display a fast circular movement. Two
different oocytes are shown for orb yps double mutants, to indicate that yps suppresses the orb phenotype in half of the oocytes.
