skeletal muscles are absent or reduced in size in the mutant. These include:
the prevertebral muscles of the neck (black arrowhead in A and C), the epaxial

including those of the abdominal wall (white arrows) and intercostal muscles
(white arrowhead). The brown fat overlying the shoulder muscles in control
