Movie 1. A slice dissected from an E10.5 Bax+/+ Oct4DPE:GFP+/+ embryo. This slice was cultured and filmed for 700 minutes. PGCs in the mesentery and midaxial region near the aorta fragment and die.
Movie 2. A slice dissected from an E10.5 Bax-/- Oct4DPE:GFP+/+ embryo. This embryo was taken from the same litter as the wild-type example shown in Movie 1. During culture (700 minutes), germ cells distant from the genital ridges do not fragment and die.
Movie 3. A slice dissected from an E10.5 Bax-/- Oct4DPE:gfp embryo. This embryo was taken from the same litter as the embryos shown in Movies 1 and 2. Germ cells in the midaxial region do not fragment and die.
