Embryos were stained for nanos RNA (A,E), gcl RNA (B,F), pgc RNA (C,G) or Nanos protein (D,H). These RNAs and protein were incorporated normally into pole cells in N14m– embryos (E-H) as in wild-type embryos (A-D).
