Fig. S1. DRG
sensory, midbrain dopaminergic and lumbar motoneurons appear normal in
3-week-old RetDN/+ mice. (A) No overt difference in
GFL-dependent nociceptive lumbar (L5) DRG neurons was observed between RetDN/+ and wild-type
(wt) mice using P2X3
immunostaining. (B) Tyrosine hydroxylase immunostaining (TH) of
substantia nigra (sn) dopaminergic neurons and their projections to the
striatum (top row, low magnification; bottom row, higher magnification of
substantia nigra neurons and the beginning of projections) revealed no
abnormalities in RetDN/+
mice. (C) Thionin-stained motor neuron profiles in the lumbar enlargement were
similar in RetDN/+ and
wild-type mice. The
number of motor neurons were also equivalent in mutant (588ą112, meanąs.e.m, n=3)
and wild-type mice (553ą17, meanąs.e.m, n=3). Scale bars: A, 80 mm; B,
1.3 mm (top), 320 mm (bottom); C, 40 mm.
