Fig. S1. Expression of O/E2 and O/E3 during development. In situ hybridization with specific probes for O/E2 and O/E3 in E16 coronal sections reveal strong signal in OE but little if any specific signal in OB. At E18, dark-field images of sagittal sections hybridized with radioactive O/E2 and O/E3 probes demonstrate intense signal in OE and vomeronasal organ (VNO) but no signal in other regions of the head including olfactory bulb (OB).
Fig. S2. Expression of olfactory specific markers in O/E3GFP/GFP homozygous mice. (A) Two markers of olfactory neurons, CNGA2 and OMP, are expressed at similar levels in OE3GFP/+ and OE3GFP/GFP adult mice. Expression of CNGA2 is observed throughout the neuronal layer. OMP signal is confined to the mature neuronal population in both genotypes. (B) Olfactory receptors M72 (dorsal zone I) and M4 (zone II) are expressed in the expected pattern in OE3GFP/GFP adult mice.
