Fig. S1. An
increased cell density was not a generalized effect following e-ATP signaling
blockade. (A-F) The
panels illustrate the effect of blocking e-ATP signaling on a number of retinal
parameters and cell populations. Each panel shows the control (vehicle
injected) case on the left and the treated case on the right. We did not
observe any change in the thickness of the retina or its layers (A), or in the
density and distribution of (B) the non-cholinergic cells of the GCL (mostly
retinal ganglion cell at this age), (C) the dopaminergic amacrine cells, (D)
the horizontal cells and (E) the AII amacrine cells. The cholinergic cells were
the only retinal cell population that we found affected by e-ATP blockade (F).
