Movie 1. Time-lapse recording showing outgrowth of wild-type retinal axons. Frames were taken with a 103 phase contrast objective, at 10-minute intervals. Axons contact one another at several time points; three examples are indicated by white arrows (at 5:10, 5:50 and 11:30). Axons appear to grow along one another after contact, leading to an increase in the thickness of the outgrowth. Time from start of recording is indicated in hours: minutes.
