Wild-type (A) and Dlx1/Dlx2 mutant (B) optic nerves. Three
measurements were made of the optic nerve as it exits the retina (optic nerve
head) using the boundary between the GCL and NBL (A, top arrow), the outer
retinal limit (A, bottom arrow) and at a point equidistant between these
markers (A, middle arrow). There was a significant 23% decrease in the
thickness of the mutant optic nerve (asterisk). Scale bars: 125 µm.
