  Fig. S1. Evolutionary conserved sequences deleted in mutants of the N-terminal arm of Ubx. Aligned full-length Ubx protein sequences are from the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster (Dm Ubx), butterfly Junonia coenia (Jc Ubx), flour beetle Tribolium castaneum (Tc Ubx) and brine shrimp Artemia franciscana (Af Ubx). Every deleted region, except for the region containing the optional intron (D252-280), contained at least one motif shared by all four arthropods.
