Fig. S1. Posterior and tail vertebrae from wild-type and Lfng null mice from 42-day-old females. There is a range of fusion between vertebrae. The Lfng null vertebral column is fused throughout the entire region and into the reduced number tail vertebrae. There is asymmetrical, and occasionally missing, transverse processes of the vertebrae in the mutants. L, lumbar; S, sacrum.
Fig. S2. Photomicrographs of Lunatic fringe null cumulus complexes. OCC were isolated from oviducts of Lfng–/– 42-day-old mice. Each set of OCC was photographed at 703 magnification. (A) Arrows indicate oocytes within the cumulus. (B) Lines indicate sample measurements of cumulus diameters.
Fig. S3. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR of mos transcripts from oocytes. Transcripts for mos were detectable in GV stage oocytes from Lfng null and heterozygous females. SqRT-PCR detected no difference in mos levels by genotype (Mean density: Lfng+/–, 14.12±3.2; Lfng–/–, 16.32±7.1). Total RNA was made from GV stage oocytes from Lfng–/– and Lfng+/– female mice, each sample represents 15 oocytes per female. The level of mos transcripts was quantified using a STORM phosphorimager.
