The phylogenetic reconstruction was performed with the Minimum Evolution algorithm provided by the MEGA2.1 software (Kumar et al., 2001). The tree indicates the existence of two closely related CLV1-like subfamilies, including the newly isolated maize sequences ZmKin1, 2, 3 and 5.
