Movie 1. Time-lapse
movie was started at the 24-somite stage in msxb-gfp embryos
counterstained with BODIPY TR methyl ester (red), and images were taken in the
same focal plane every 10 minutes for a total of 3 hours. The movie thus
contains 19 frames (including time 0), and images were cropped to center the
cloaca region in each frame as the embryo grew. Note the migration of a single,
red, vacuolated cell ventrally, where it creates a pore in the epidermis
(expressing msxb-gfp). Also note the
columnarization of the kidney cells over the course of the movie.
