  Fig. S1. Jag1 expression in wild-type and Grem1 deficient limb buds. (A) Jag1 expression is first detected by E10.25 (31-33 somites) in wild-type limb buds. (B) By E10.5 (35-36 somites), Jag1 expression begins to expand anteriorly in the distal limb bud mesenchyme. (C,D) Jag1 expression is activated but remains low in Grem1-deficient limb buds. Limb buds in A-D are oriented with anterior towards the top and distal towards the right. (E,F) Transverse sections through a forelimb bud at E10.75 (37-39 somites) were hybridised to detect Grem1 (E) and Jag1 transcripts (F). Grem1 expression is localized in the ventral and dorsal mesenchyme (E) and Jag1 expression is localized in the distal mesenchyme (F). Sections are oriented with ventral towards the top and distal towards the right.
