(B,C) Wings of ci-M+ (B) and en-M+ (C) genotypes showing that the A and P compartments match perfectly well in spite of having had different growth rates. In each case, the M+ tissue is labelled with mwh and jv. (B',C') Are amplifications of the central regions of the wings. A sharp border exists between mwh tissue in the ci-M+ wing (red line) compared with the `wiggly' mwh border in the en-M+ wing. This is due to the late tier of en expression induced by Hh (Blair, 1992).
