Fig. 5. Cortical torsion does not require interaction with microtubules. The eggs were incubated continuously for 4 hours (about four cell-cycle equivalents) in the presence of 20 mmol/l BDM and 10 µmol/l nocodazole. The cortical pigment pattern indicates counterclockwise rotation through several revolutions.
