Fig. S1. Comparison of the onset of 447L17blacZ reporter
activity with Shh. Whole-mount views of embryos stained for Shh mRNA (A,E,I,M) or lacZ
expression
(X-gal) derived from Bac 447L17blacZ (C,G,K,O). The spatial and temporal
distribution of X-gal staining in the node (nd), notochord (nc) and prechordal
plate (pcp) was comparable with that of Shh. The initiation of X-gal staining
in the diencephalon (di) was observed at the 9- to 10-somite stage (G,H) and
continued to expand rostrally (K,L,O,P), in a similar manner to Shh (E,F,I,J,M,N).
