Stationary-phase wild-type cells bearing the rblA::{alpha}pgal reporter were diluted into fresh normal or glucose-free medium; reporter activity and the cell concentration were followed until the cells again reached stationary phase. The promoter activity is higher in the presence of glucose; however, regardless of glucose, the activity is highest during the exponential phase.
