  Fig. S1. Analyzing the response to Shh signaling using Gli1 expression. Midsagittal sections from Smo-Nes cko mutants express Gli1 in the EGL and Bergmann glial layer (A). Expression of Math1 indicates the presence of GCPs (B). Expression of Gli1 is observed in the EGL and the Bergmann glial layer at P2 in wild-type mice (C). This expression is not detected in Gli2-En1 cko mutants at P2 (D). Recombination in the EGL of Gli2-Nes cko mutants is mosaic, as shown by the patchy expression of Gli1 (F) in the EGL at P0 compared to wild-type (E).

  Fig. S2. Increasing Shh signaling using a transgene does not alter the phenotype of Gli2-En1 cko mutants.
