Movie 1. Mobility limitations of a Scx−/−mutant mouse. Tendon defects result in drastic limitations to the motion of a 2-week-old Scx−/− mutant mouse. The paw of the forelimb is locked in a dorsal flexure and the mice walk on their wrists. The use of all limbs is limited and the mutant spends a lot of time not moving. In addition, the tail of Scx−/− mice is completely immobile and the mutants demonstrate a severe impairment in the use of their back muscles and find it difficult to turn over when placed lying on their back.
