Identical amino acids are shown on a black background; similar amino acids are on a grey background. The secondary structure profiles determined for mouse CBFß (open box, {alpha} helix; black box, ß sheet) are shown on the top of the alignment (Tahirov et al., 2001), indicating the RUNX1-interacting regions, and including the particular amino acids that would be expected to participate in the direct interaction.
