  Figure S1. Metaphase I arrest in cort, fzy and cort; fzy double mutants is normal. DNA labeled with Oligreen and FISH against the X-chromosome 359 bp repeat (red) identifies two X-chromosomes on either side of the spindle equator. This configuration was observed in 17/18 wild-type oocytes (A), 37/37 cort oocytes (B), 15/16 fzy oocytes (C) and 34/34 cort; fzy double-mutant oocytes (D). All oocytes were dissected from females kept at 29°C for 3-5 days.
