Movie 1. Overview of tracheal system development in the Drosophila embryo. A montage of three independent time lapses showing wild-type embryos. The time lapses were registered in time and space in order to recapitulate tracheal system development. In the first part of the movie, His2AvD::mRFP expressed ubiquitously is used to label the nuclei of the ectoderm (red), thereby allowing the tracheal placode invagination to be visualized. In the second part of the movie, GFP::Actin expressed in the tracheal system (green) highlights the tracheal branches. Anterior is to the left and dorsal to the top. The images were taken at two minutes intervals. Scale bar: 100 µm.
Movie 2. Elongation and cell intercalation in a dorsal branch. Anterior is to the left and dorsal to the top. GFP::Actin expressed in the tracheal system shows the cytoplasm and the extensions of the tracheal cells. By contrast, the cell nuclei and the tracheal lumen can be visualized as ‘black’ structures. The images were taken at two minutes intervals. Scale bar: 10 µm.
