(C) RT-PCR revealed metamorphic melanophore expression of erbb3b and erbb2, but not erbb3a or egfr. All four ErbB genes were expressed in adult fin. mel, melanophore; dct, dopachrome tautomerase (encoding a melanin synthesis enzyme expressed by melanophores and their precursors). dct is more strongly expressed in melanoblasts (present in fin) compared with melanophores (mel).
