Fig. S1. Analysed data for two embryos expressing tetanus toxin in cholinergic neurons (Cha-GAL4;UAS-TNT-G). For comparison, an embryo expressing active tetanus toxin pan-neuronally is shown. The first clear increase in muscle contraction in the Cha-GAL4;UAS-TNT-G group is indicated by an asterisk. From 17 hours AEL, VLs in this group (n=4) were contracting on average 5.4±0.25% of the time compared with 3.3±0.3% in the elav-GAL4;UAS-TNT-G group (n=5).
Movie 1. The first movements in an embryo 14 hours AEL (twitches).
Movie 2. Unilateral contractions consistent with rolling behaviour, 16.5 hours AEL.
Movie 3. Part of first burst of muscle contractions, 17 hours AEL.
Movie 4. Part of later burst of muscle contractions containing partial peristaltic sequences, 18 hours AEL.
Movie 5. Part of first burst to contain the complete sequence of forward peristalsis, 18.25 hours AEL.
