Immunofluorescence staining of somites of Myf5-Cre//DTA (A,D,G), myogenin-Cre//DTA (B,E,H) and wild-type embryos (C,F,I) at E10.5 using a combination of Myf5 and Myod1, Myf5/Pax7 and Myf5/myogenin antibodies. Somites from the cranial part of embryos are shown. Myf5-expressing cells are lacking in Myf5-Cre//DTA but not in myogenin-Cre//DTA and wild-type embryos, and there is a massive reduction of Myod1- and myogenin-expressing cells in Myf5-Cre//DTA embryos.
