The peak of ecdysteroids that in WT, phm-Gal4 and UAS-smt3i larvae is thought to induce pupariation is not found in smt3i larvae. (B) smt3i larvae fed with 20E can pupariate. Pupae proceeded to head eversion, but in no instance gave rise to adults.
