  Fig. S1. Msd promoter does not induce ectopic Tbx18 expression in otic tissues. Analysis of msd promoter driven Tbx18 expression by RNA whole-mount (A) and section (B-D) in situ hybridization analysis against a GFP-RNA tag fused to the Tbx18 reading frame in the msd::Tbx18 construct (Bussen et al., 2004) in msd::Tbx18 heterozygous embryos. Stages are as indicated in the figure. Expression of GFP-tagged Tbx18 mRNA was not detected in otic tissues at all stages examined. Arrows in B-D mark non-otic GFP-positive tissues.
