  Fig. S1. Distal lung formation in Pofut1^cnθ^ll mutants. (A-F) Lung explants from control and Pofut1^cnull littermates isolated at E11.5 (0h) and cultured for 48 hours show an essentially similar branching pattern of the developing airways. (G-J) Immunohistochemistry for Titf1 at E14.5 and E18.5 showing that labeling of the distal epithelium in the forming tubules or saccules is almost identical in control and mutants. Immunohistochemistry of (K,L) T1alpha (T1a), which labels type I (t1) cells indicated in the right-hand panels by brackets in cells distal to the terminal bronchiole (tb) and of (O,P) Sftpc, which labels type II cells (see insets), show a similar pattern of staining (arrowhead) in control and Pofut1^cnull lungs.
