Movie 1. Cultured egg chamber undergoes ooplasmic streaming and nurse cell dumping. Time-lapse movie of an egg chamber expressing MCP-GFP alone (detected in nurse cell and follicle cell nuclei), dissected at the end of stage 10 and cultured for 3.5 hours. Autofluorescent yolk granules can be seen streaming throughout the oocyte, which enlarges as nurse cell cytoplasm enters at the anterior. Anterior of the egg chamber is towards the upper left. Movie reproduced, with permission, from Forrest et al. (Forrest et al., 2003).
Movie 2. grk RNA particle movement in a nurse cell. Particles formed by grk RNA injected into the nurse cell of a stage 8 oocyte travel in directed paths towards the ring canal and accumulate in front of it (movie represents a 3-minute time period). Several particles move through the ring canal. Movie reproduced, with permission, from Clark et al. (Clark et al., 2007).
Movie 3. Movement of GFP-Stau particles. Time-lapse imaging of GFP-Stau particles near the posterior of an oocyte (posterior pole is to the right) over a 29-second time period. GFP-Stau appears as small bright particles, whereas yolk vesicles appear as large gray circles. The region of cytoplasm indicated by the black rectangle is shown at a higher magnification in the second part of the movie. Several particle tracks are highlighted during a repeat of this movie. Movie reproduced, with permission, from Zimyanin et al. (Zimyanin et al., 2008).
Movie 4. bcd and nos mRNA particle dynamics in late oocytes. Time-lapse movies showing the anterior (left) and posterior (right) of stage 12 egg chambers expressing MS2-tagged bcd and nos mRNA, respectively, labeled with MCP-GFP. Ooplasmic streaming has ceased in the oocyte on the left, but is still ongoing in the oocyte on the right. After reaching maximal anterior accumulation, bcd particles continue to show anteriorly directed movement. nos particles are static at the posterior cortex. Elapsed time is 14.5 seconds. Movie reproduced, with permission, from Weil et al. (Weil et al., 2008).
Movie 5. bcd RNA particles traveling on microtubules. A small region near the anterior cortex of a stage 12 egg chamber is shown during a 10-second interval. Microtubules are labeled with Tau-GFP and MS2-tagged bcd mRNA is labeled with MCP-GFP. Movie reproduced, with permission, from Weil et al. (Weil et al., 2008).
