Cover: Confocal image of the luminal surface of the organ of Corti illustrating the uniform orientation of hair cell stereociliary bundles. Development of this planar polarity occurs during the late embryonic and early postnatal periods, and is regulated by Wnt signaling. Filamentous actin, including stereocilia, is labeled in green; acetylated tubulin, including the kinocilium located at the vertex of each stereociliary bundle, is labeled in red.
