About the Cover
Cover: In Ciona intestinalis, CiVH protein (green) is incorporated into B7.6 cells, the posterior-most blastomeres, which divide asymmetrically during gastrulation. CiVH diffuses into the cytoplasm prior to B7.6 cell division and is partitioned into germ cell progenitors. This redistribution of CiVH appears to be essential for germ cell specification in ascidians. See article by Shirae-Kurabayashi et al. on p. 2683.
