Cover: Cross section of a 5-day-old chick embryo engrafted with a quail segmental plate at 2 days of development. Vascularisation of the body wall and limbs is contributed by somite-derived endothelial cells (green). As hematopoiesis proceeds, the aortic endothelium is replaced by endothelial cells from the somite. Red, smooth muscle actin; blue, cell nuclei. See article by Pouget et al. on p. 1013.
