Cover: Motion is detected in the inner ear, which contains three semicircular canals oriented with the dimensions of space (top). In Lrig3 mutant mice (bottom), the canal that detects motion in the horizontal plane (red) is truncated, resulting in a dramatic circling behavior. See research article by Abraira et al. on p. 4091.
